Anthropic in talks to buy Decart for about $6 billion

Anthropic is in talks to acquire Israeli AI startup Decart for roughly $6 billion, according to matching reports from Bloomberg and Fortune. It would be the largest known acquisition in the Claude maker's history. Important caveat: negotiations are ongoing, a deal is not guaranteed — and both companies declined to comment.

Decart operates on two fronts: it builds world models that simulate physical environments, and software that improves chip efficiency during AI training. Its best-known product is Lucy, a model that modifies high-resolution video in real time — used for virtual try-ons in fashion e-commerce and for live streaming on platforms like Twitch and TikTok.

For Anthropic, the efficiency technology is reportedly the main draw: Decart's team would be folded into Anthropic's inference and performance organization and help run infrastructure more economically as demand surges — a central concern on the road to the company's anticipated IPO.

The price would mark a steep premium: Decart raised $300 million as recently as May 2026 at a valuation of nearly $4 billion, up from $3.1 billion in August 2025. Its investors include Radical Ventures, Nvidia, Adobe Ventures, Sequoia Capital and Benchmark. If the deal closes, it underlines how fierce the race for inference efficiency among frontier labs has become.
